Avangrid Begins Constructing First Texas Solar Farm

Avangrid, a sustainable energy firm based mostly in Connecticut and member of the Iberdrola Group, has begun development of True North, a 240 MW solar farm in Falls County, Texas, that can provide renewable energy to power operations of Meta, the social media-centered expertise firm, within the area.

Since 2020, Meta’s world operations have been supported by 100% renewable energy. The True North challenge will assist Meta’s upcoming information heart in neighboring Temple, the corporate’s second information heart facility in Texas.

Avangrid will deploy $30 million in solar trackers from Array Technologies at True North, its first solar farm in Texas. Construction and operation will create greater than 200 native jobs and is anticipated to generate over $40 million in property taxes throughout 25 years within the state.

The solar farm is anticipated to succeed in business operations by early 2025. The firm already operates greater than 1,250 MW of onshore wind services in Texas.
