AVANGRID has signed a power buy settlement (PPA) with Meta to acquire renewable energy from True North, a 240 MW solar farm beneath growth in Falls County, Texas.
“With projects like True North, we continue our mission of helping the country meet its ambitious clean energy goals, while also creating quality jobs and strengthening our local economies,” stated Pedro Azagra, CEO of AVANGRID, which is a part of the Iberdrola Group.
True North is AVANGRID’s first solar farm in Texas. The venture is predicted to achieve industrial operations by early 2025. During its building and operation, True North will create greater than 200 native jobs and is predicted to pay greater than $40 million in property taxes over 25 years in Texas, the place AVANGRID already operates greater than 1,250 MW of onshore wind services.
“We’re excited to expand our partnership with AVANGRID to help bring new solar energy to support our local operations in Texas,” stated Urvi Parekh, head of renewable energy at Meta. “True North will support our commitment to 100% renewable energy and represents additional investment and jobs for the region.”
Since 2020, Meta’s international operations have been supported by 100% renewable energy. The True North venture will assist Meta’s upcoming knowledge middle in neighboring Temple, their second knowledge middle facility in Texas.
