Behind-the-Meter Solar Venture to Ease Griffith Electrical energy Wants

Griffith Energy LLC, an affiliate of infrastructure funding agency ArcLight Capital Partners LLC, plans to assemble a 2-MW behind-the-meter solar venture on the Griffith Generating Station in Mohave County, Ariz.

The venture will serve to offset Griffith’s auxiliary electrical energy necessities, on-line or offline. With a lowered must self-supply auxiliary energy with pure gasoline and associated cooling water, the venture will even offset the power plant’s water consumption.

The first part of the venture, which is roughly 80% full, will include 700.3 KW of rooftop-mounted solar panels. Construction on the second part is predicted to be full by early 2024 and can incorporate roughly 1.3 MW of ground-mounted solar panels with single-axis monitoring. At its peak, the venture will search to make use of 25 native development personnel.

“This behind-the-meter solar project is highly economical, and we believe it represents the fastest way to get solar energy on the grid,” says Joe Alves, managing director at ArcLight. “We see this as a template for other industrial and thermal generation facilities in the Desert Southwest.”

In addition to the behind-the-meter solar venture at Griffith, ArcLight, in partnership with its associates Griffith, Griffith Solar LLC and Elevate Renewables F7 LLC,  is at present growing a 25-MW solar plus 25-MW four-hour battery energy storage system with further enlargement alternatives in Mohave County.
