Lendlease, Holu Hou Energy to Deploy Storage at Island Palm Communities

Lendlease, an actual property and funding group that manages nearly 8,000 properties for the U.S. Army on Oahu, and Holu Hou Energy (HHE), a supplier of design-to-service solar plus energy storage methods, have signed a contract to put in HHE’s HoluEnergy energy storage and solar PV methods on properties at Lendlease’s Island Palm Communities.

The installations will come within the type of HHE’s EnergyCluster, the place a number of residential models have their methods linked in an energy community. Excess solar era from any unit’s system within the community that might usually be misplaced is immediately shared in actual time with different linked models which have load above solar era. The profit is that the optimized PV and energy storage methods can meet 75% to 80% or extra of the general residents’ energy wants whereas not exporting power to the utility grid.

“Lendlease Communities is proud to partner with Holu Hou Energy on this innovative renewable energy project, which will not only improve the quality of life for military families at Island Palm Communities, but also contribute to a more resilient and stable electric grid in Oahu,” says Matt Lynn, SVP, energy and utilities at Lendlease.

Lendlease and HHE started planning in 2021, which culminated in developing a pilot undertaking in May 2022. Since then, the pilot has been working throughout six residential models. In a typical month, roughly a 3rd of the full generated electrical energy is shared with different models within the cluster, thereby fixing points associated to emptiness and resident load variability whereas proving the worth created by a clustered strategy versus stand-alone methods.

The financial savings realized by Island Palm Communities by deployment of HHE’s methods is being reinvested to boost the housing and facilities Lendlease affords to navy households on the set up. Additionally, residents now have back-up power that may be utilized throughout grid outage occasions.

Each residential unit may have roughly 10 kW of PV and 25 kWh of energy storage, with six residences sometimes being linked in an HHE EnergyShare community. Construction is about to start summer time of 2023, with preliminary installations on the Aliamanu Military Reservation close to Honolulu.
