Renewable America’s West Tambo challenge added to San José Solar Access program

By SB Staff August 17, 2022

The City of San José chosen the primary section of Renewable America‘s West Tambo Clean Power solar project to provide electricity in the San José Clean Energy’s (SJCE) Solar Access program. The 2.5 MWdc facility in Merced County will present carbon-free electrical energy over the course of a 15-year power buy settlement (PPA) with SJCE. The challenge is anticipated to return on-line in April 2023.

“Thanks to San José Clean Energy, local solar power projects such as those under development by Renewable America will directly benefit residents in disadvantaged communities. Through the Solar Access program and Renewable America’s collaboration with SJCE, residents can opt into renewable energy even if they cannot put solar panels on a rooftop,” stated Renewable America CEO, Ardi Arian.

SJCE launched its Solar Access program in fall 2021 to attach these clients with off-site solar energy at a 20 % low cost on electrical technology and supply expenses. Eligible SJCE clients are those who meet sure earnings {qualifications} and dwell in a deprived group designated by the state. These areas are disproportionately impacted by environmental and socioeconomic burdens equivalent to poverty, air air pollution, or different environmental components which contribute to bronchial asthma.

“SJCE is thrilled that local companies like Renewable America are developing solar energy resources for residents who need it most,” stated Lori Mitchell, Director of San José’s Community Energy Department, which operates SJCE. “Our transition to a clean energy future can only be considered successful if it includes customers from all socioeconomic backgrounds.”

The Renewable America crew is main challenge growth, financing, development, and ongoing operation of the solar energy facility. This growth course of focuses on minimizing any environmental injury whereas producing low-cost renewable energy.

For instance, the challenge is deliberate to incorporate the combination of pollinator-friendly vegetation to profit the encompassing ecosystem. The challenge funding is geared toward bettering public well being, high quality of life, and financial alternative for native residents – together with these from deprived communities.

The West Tambo Clean Power challenge that can serve SJCE is part of Renewable America’s pipeline of 255 MW of solar energy capability and 590 MWh of energy storage. The firm works intently with a number of Community Choice Aggregators (CCAs) like Marin Clean Energy, Redwood Coast Energy Authority, and others throughout California to offer native, reasonably priced renewable energy.

“We are thrilled to partner with CCAs across California to make clean energy affordable and accessible for their members,” stated Arian. “We applaud the City of San José for their leadership in this sustainable initiative.”

We have a ton video interviews and extra content material on our YouTube web page. Recently we debuted Power Forward! — a collaboration with BayWa r.e. to debate increased stage trade subjects in addition to greatest practices / developments for working a solar enterprise as we speak.

Our longer working aspect challenge is The Pitch — during which we’ve awkward discussions with solar producers and suppliers about their new expertise and concepts in order that you do not have to. We’ve discusses every part from residential rail-less deck attaching and home solar financing to large-scale energy storage worth stacking and utility-driven new home solar + storage microgrids.

We additionally submit our Project of the Year bulletins there! Interviews with this 12 months’s winners will probably be up beginning the week of Nov. 8. Head there and subscribe as we speak to remain on prime of all this further stuff.
